What Changed With SBCs in FC 27
EA split SBCs into two formats. Which one you get depends on the kind of reward the SBC gives.
EA’s goal was to cut the repetitive work around Player and Upgrade SBCs, the ones you do for a reward, while keeping the puzzle in Challenge SBCs. If you’d rather skip the fodder hunt entirely, FC 27 coins are the other route to the same players. The rest of this guide is about doing it the long way, efficiently.

How Streamlined SBC Scoring Works
You no longer solve a squad. You fill a bar.
Completing a Streamlined SBC

Open the SBC
You see the eligible items from your club, already filtered to what the SBC accepts.

Pick items
Each item adds points based on its overall rating and rarity, using the same scoring as the Gallery. Higher rated and rarer versions add more.

Watch the minimums
Some SBCs only need a total score. Others add a rule, like every item rated 75 or higher in EA’s Player of the Month example.

Submit now or later
Partial submissions count. Send some items today and finish the rest when you have more fodder.
Why this matters
With no squad rating to hit, the same target can be reached with many low rated items, a few high rated ones, or a mix. You choose what to give up.
What to Submit, and What to Keep
The format rewards a tidy club. These are the moves that follow straight from how EA built it.
Feed duplicates first. Streamlined SBCs accept them, and they were dead weight in your club anyway.
Submit freely if you care about the Gallery. Items you put into an SBC still count toward your Gallery Sets, so you don’t lose that progress.
Check the per-item minimum before you plan. If the SBC asks for 75 rated or higher, low golds won’t help, however many you have.
Use partial progress for expensive SBCs. Bank the cheap items now and finish as packs and rewards come in.
Protect the players you want to keep. EA has heard requests to mark favourites so they can’t be submitted by mistake, but that option isn’t there yet.
Do Challenge SBCs the old way. Those still use Chemistry and squad rating, so build them like you did in FC 26.

Streamlined SBCs on the Companion App
Since September 28, 2026, Streamlined SBCs work in the Companion App, so you can submit items and track partial progress from your phone. EA says more quality of life updates for the format will follow based on player feedback.
Where SBCs Fit in FC 27 Upgrades
EA rebalanced every route to a better squad this year. A few numbers from its launch update explain the market you’re working in.
What EA reported two weeks after launch
- In-game balances were more than 50% higher than at the same point last year.
- More Starting XI players are being picked up on the Transfer Market.
- Campaign squads are smaller, with a tighter rating spread.
- Fewer Campaign items are trading at or near discard value than in past years.
- Evolutions were tuned as one route among several, next to rewards, SBCs and the market.
- End of match rewards now pay out after every match in select modes.
What it means for SBCs
With smaller Campaign squads, more of each release is worth keeping. That makes fodder selection matter more, and duplicates are the cheapest fuel you have.

What is a Streamlined SBC in FC 27?+
Most Player and Upgrade SBCs use it now. You don’t build a squad anymore: you pick items from your club, each one fills part of a score bar, and the SBC completes when the bar is full.
