Roams win games when they’re timed and prepared. This guide shows how to create safe roam windows without losing mid lane tempo.
1) Priority Is Everything
You can only roam if you have priority. That means your wave is pushed and your opponent is stuck clearing.
Rule: If your wave is not crashing, don’t leave lane.
2) Wave Prep for Roams
The best roam window is a slow push into crash. It buys you time before you lose plates or XP.
- Build a slow push
- Crash the wave
- Move immediately to your roam target
3) Vision Routes
Roams fail when you walk through dark fog. Use these rules:
- Ward one side of river
- Roam through the warded side
- If no vision, ping and cancel
4) Choose High-Value Roams
Not all roams are equal. Prioritize:
- Dragon fights
- Bot lane dives (if wave is stacked)
- Herald setups
- Counter-roams to protect your lane
5) Returning to Lane
A good roam doesn’t kill your lane. Always plan the return timing:
- If you can’t return before the wave hits tower, don’t roam.
- Use boots or abilities to reset faster.
6) Roaming Mistakes
- Roaming on a bad wave
- Roaming without vision
- Chasing kills instead of objectives
7) Mid Lane Roam Checklist
- Do I have priority?
- Is my wave crashing?
- Do I have vision?
- Is the roam high value?
If the answer is no, stay mid.
